Power steps
A tokyo rail company has been generating electricity from the footsteps of the commuters that pass through the station. It generates 100 milliwatts per second for each person that walks thorugh having an average walk-in traffic of 700,000 commuters. They are using the generated power to supply the electricity needed for the ticket wickets and display panels. Link
