This is how I roll and you know it.

Fender Bender

Yesterday was definitely an eventful day for me but not in a good way. It was the first heavy snowfall in Edmonton in which I courageously undertaken to take a drive to run a few errands. Little did I know that it would end with me skidding down the snow covered road and hitting a metal fencing that would break of a piece of my front bumper.

This is my first, thus I had no definitive clue on what exactly to do. So I left a note to the owner of the fence, went home which was half a street away and called my insurance. Luckily, the insurance agent that I spoke to was very helpful in guiding me of the things I have to do.

The first of which was to call the police and report the accident. So I did even though I am in complete disbelief that this small accident would require the presence of the upholders of the law. Dispatch then tells me that they will phone me when an available patrol cruiser can respond to the scene. So I wait.

A few hours later, the insurance agent calls me again and gives me the details about when the tow truck will come to pick my car up, which shop they are bringing it to, and also information about my car rental. Yes, they had to tow it since the container of my windshield washer was leaking and can no longer be driven due to leaking fluids as it may pose safety hazards.

Then the owner of the fence finally gets home and gives me a call. His voice tells me that he definitely wants to be compensated for the damage as he clearly states on how hard was it for them to find this specific fencing that they had installed in their lawn. Not only that but he also adds on that there is a buried sprinkler that I may have damaged. Is this guy for real? A sprinkler? I knocked over a corner fence and he tells me that his sprinkler might have been damaged. I think I'll let the insurance company deal with him if continues to be unreasonable about it.

Seven hours after the incident, the cops finally arrive and took my statement of what happened and checked the damage that I have caused both on my car and the fence. I rode with them back to where the accident happened. Riding in the back seat of a cruiser is really cramped but the cold weather kept me in it. After receiving the police report they dropped me back to my house and commended me for my honesty about the whole thing. I guess its one thing I can feel good about that is until I pay my deductible and receive the increase in my monthly insurance.
