The year that was...
A new year tends to bring people to reflect on what they have done in the year that has gone and set new goals for the year to come. I have been wondering whether I should highlight the things that I had accomplished or layout my plans. Both seem to be hard to do. I tried writing about this subject but I can't bring myself to do it. I wrote two drafts now but ended up deleting both of them.
I Looked through my previous January posts to see whether I have written on this subject before. Sadly, I have not. So I started pondering as to why I haven't done so. One thing came to my mind and that is that I am not good in planning too far ahead. Listing things to do for the week I am good at. But listing things what to do for a whole year seem to be hard for me.
Iterating the unknown is similar to writing the script for "Lost". You never know what to write until that moment that you happen to figure it out. The closest thing I have done planning of this sort is through those email capsules I wrote a few years back. I don't even remember what I had written until I received it last month.
Listing your accomplishments on the other hand is like writing a feel good list. You do it to be happy about yourself. I'm just not into that right now. Those memories are best appreciated in moments of self reflection. Not written on a blog for anyone to read.
What then brought you to write about this sort-of-deep-but-not-really topic dare you ask? Well, I blame it on all the blogs and articles about the best of 2008 and predictions for 2009 that I have wasted my time reading.
**Completely off the subject: If Windows 7 is really going to be released this summer as has been predicted, then I am getting a new laptop. I have avoided buying a new one because of Vista. I am still using a salvaged Inspiron that I customized to be a Mac-wanna-be. I like how the Mac looks but I can't part with windows.
