Tong-its, Recession, and Sprite Cans
A deep freeze has come over Edmonton this past week causing frigid temperatures up to -30 degrees Celsius. I was in for a surprise when I did decide to go out and go for a drive to pick up a couple of things. Looking inside my car at first glance gave me the impression that every molecule of moisture has been frozen providing a white exterior to my car seats. However, bigger lumps of frozen liquid laid rest to my back seat, door, and overhead. Looking into it further revealed that a sprite can has frozen and exploded in the back seats causing a big mess of sticky, frozen, carbonated delight plastered all over the interior of my car. I tried to remove it myself but it left stains behind. Thus, I brought it for cleaning and cost me $100 out of my pocket to clean the back seat of all the stains. The stains on the overhead however stayed and left spots in which I have no clue how to remove just yet.
The recession on the other hand just can't be stopped as more and more workers are being laid off on a weekly basis. There are now three of us unemployed as I write this entry. Chances are two more might join our ranks. My job prospects for the position that I want is getting more difficult to acquire. I might need to settle for something else soon.
Long nights have turned into Tong-its nights. Gambling quarters for fun help pass time as we sulk on the depressing state of the economy and our pathetic existence. Rinse and repeat every night until one goes broke or finds a job.
